Suffolk is full of beautiful locations that offer something different in every season. From peaceful lakes and woodlands to colourful seafronts and classic coastal towns, there’s no shortage of inspiration for photography.
Over the years, I’ve explored many corners of the county with my camera, whether for client shoots or personal projects, and these four spots are the ones I find myself returning to again and again.
If you’re planning a shoot, updating your content, or just fancy getting creative, these locations are a great place to start.
1 Orwell Country Park
Orwell Country Park is one of those places that feels completely different every time you visit. The mix of woodland trails, open fields, and riverside views makes it incredibly versatile for photography.

The trees create beautiful filtered light in the mornings, especially in spring and autumn, while the river offers softer, scenic backdrops that work perfectly for portraits and relaxed lifestyle shoots. The views of the Orwell Bridge also add a recognisable Suffolk landmark to wider landscape shots.
It’s a great choice for natural portraits, family sessions, or anyone wanting a calm, outdoorsy feel without travelling too far from Ipswich.
2 Felixstowe
Felixstowe has such a classic British seaside charm. The colourful beach huts, open skies, and long stretches of coastline give you loads to work with creatively.

Sunrise and sunset are especially beautiful here, with soft pastel skies and golden light reflecting off the sea. The promenade and pier add structure and leading lines, which work really well for both portraits and brand shoots.
It’s ideal for bright, relaxed shoots think lifestyle content, family photos, or fun brand imagery with a bit more personality and colour.
3 Aldeburgh
Aldeburgh offers something a little moodier and more atmospheric. The shingle beach, historic buildings, and open coastline give it a timeless feel that’s perfect for storytelling images.

There’s loads of texture here from fishing boats and pebbled shores to pastel shopfronts and narrow streets which makes it brilliant for editorial-style photography. The Scallop sculpture is also a striking focal point for wider landscape shots.
If you’re after something slightly more rustic or artistic, Aldeburgh always delivers.
4 Needham Lake
Needham Lake is peaceful, open, and full of soft natural tones, which makes it perfect for relaxed, light-filled photography.

The still water creates beautiful reflections, especially during golden hour, and the surrounding greenery gives a fresh, clean backdrop that works well for everything from portraits to small business content.
It’s a lovely spot for family sessions or anyone wanting a simple, natural setting that keeps the focus on the subject.
Suffolk really does have such a variety of locations within a short drive, which makes it ideal for photography. Whether you prefer woodland walks, seaside colour, or quiet lakeside views, there’s always somewhere that fits the mood you’re going for.
If you’re thinking about booking a shoot or need updated content for your brand or business, I regularly photograph across all of these locations and would love to help bring your ideas to life.
